Philadelphia 76ers: 3 takeaways from Game 1 vs. Nets

In what seemed like the Philadelphia 76ers’ first meaningful game in months, they got exposed by the Brooklyn Nets in Game 1, 111-102.
The Philadelphia 76ers did nothing to alleviate postseason concerns, as they blew Game 1—big time. The Brooklyn Nets methodically picked Philly apart on the shoulders of, well, exactly who you’d think.
Brooklyn’s trio of ball handlers, D’Angelo Russell, Spencer Dinwiddie and Caris LeVert picked the Sixers apart. Philly’s point-of-attack defense, which hasn’t existed since Robert Covington was in uniform, remained M.I.A.
Those aforementioned three combined for 67 points, but the bleeding didn’t stop there. The gravity each of them created left holes in the rest of the Sixers’ defense, allowing for easy buckets from the rest of Brooklyn’s rotation as well.
Overall, it was not the best showing from the Sixers, and ought to light a fire under the superior team’s rear. Fans have a right to be outraged, but they should remember that it’s a series for a reason.
With that in mind, here are the three biggest takeaways from a disappointing Saturday afternoon in Philadelphia.
