Kevin Porter Jr., SG, USC

Hey, look! Another potential star, although with slightly more risk than Hayes carries.

Kevin Porter Jr. has the makings of a dynamic NBA scorer and offensive catalyst. That is, if he can overcome the self-inflicted wounds that slowed his progress during his time at USC. However, it wouldn’t be surprising if Porter proved himself to be college misfit who shines at the next level.

Despite injuries, off-court issues and limited opportunities, Porter flashed legitimate star power this past season.

His abilities to create his own looks while utilizing his insane athleticism were routinely on display, giving NBA scouts a glimpse of what he could develop into in the right system with pro-caliber coaching.

Honestly, his candidacy with the Lakers could come down to pre-draft interviews. Is he mature enough to warrant consideration? Can he pass the “Lakers Mentality” drill, which is designed to test toughness — both physical and mental?

He certainly has the skills to hear his name called at No. 10, but is he ready to unleash his full potential in the NBA?

So many questions, and no real answers at this time. For now, we’ll just have to wait and see. Based on what’s already known about Porter, though, he seems like a solid option for the Lakers to consider with their 2019 first-round pick.
