Key Number One: Giannis vs. whoever has to guard him

There are a ton of weapons on this Bucks team, and they can attack you in a number of different ways. At the end of the day though, the main driving force for this team is Giannis. The man has a case for being the MVP and the Defensive Player of the Year.

The Pistons have to focus on slowing him down as much as they can while trying to limit the effectiveness of the four other guys that he’s sharing the floor with.

They’re likely going to deploy a strategy of just throwing bodies at him all game long in an effort to wear him out. He’ll see stints against Blake Griffin, Wayne Ellington and anyone else that head coach Dwane Casey believes won’t get torched by Giannis every time they come down the floor.

Casey has done a good job of making adjustments in the past, but this may be the best team that he’s ever had to coach a full series against.

If the team still had Stanley Johnson or Reggie Bullock, it’s likely that they would be drawing this assignment. However, they’re both gone, so the team is going to have to get creative. Maybe this will be the opportunity for rookie Bruce Brown Jr. to shine on a big stage.

He’s shorter than Giannis, but he is feisty enough to scrap for every inch of hardwood on the floor. If the Pistons want any hope of slowing the Bucks down, this is a matchup they have to keep it close.
