4. Doncic makes triple-double history

Doncic was phenomenal all season for the Mavericks as their leading scorer and go-to crunch time option, but his play becomes even more impressive upon remembering he only recently celebrated his 20th birthday back on Feb. 28.

Players as young as Luka aren’t supposed to play like 10-year veterans. Most don’t even ever come to match his production in their primes, yet this Slovenian star continued to etch his name in the record books on a near nightly basis. No performance was more impressive than his matchup with the No. 2 team in the Eastern Conference.

On Jan. 27 against the Toronto Raptors, Doncic registered the second triple-double of his career, scoring a season-high tying 35 points to go along with 12 rebounds and 10 assists in a 123-120 defeat.

With what is sure to be the first of many similar performances, he was the second teenager to record a triple-double next to Markelle Fultz, and became the youngest to ever do it while scoring over 30 points.

As his career progresses, Doncic will likely eclipse even more records. For now, he’ll have to settle for this one, a true testament of his immense talent level at an age where most of his counterparts are still at the collegiate level attempting to get a taste of what Luka’s experienced plenty of already.
