7. John Collins sinks game-winner against 76ers

For a rebuilding team like the Hawks, it’s important to chronicle moments of growth that the franchise can earmark as a potential turning point in their trajectory. Those earmarks can be key wins over certain opponents or games from specific players that you hope will be a key part of your future. On some occasions, teams can get glimpses of both, which is what the Hawks got in a January meeting with the Sixers.

In that game, Atlanta got strong showings out of Kevin Huerter (29 points) and John Collins (25 points), but it was Collins who flashed his expanded repertoire in the game’s biggest moment.

With the game tied at 121, Collins posted up then-Sixer Mike Muscala and following a quick back down, created some separation and swished through a clutch fadeaway jumper with 9.5 seconds left that would ultimately serve as the game-winner for the Hawks.
