Top 100 moments of the 2018-19 NBA season, Part 2
46. Wild OT finish between Detroit Pistons and Minnesota Timberwolves
It didn’t look good for the Detroit Pistons on Dec. 19, as they trailed the Minnesota Timberwolves by 14 points heading into the fourth quarter. Thanks to some red-hot 3-point shooting and an Andre Drummond put-back, they were able to ride a crazy finish to an unlikely overtime victory.
The Pistons went 9-for-13 from 3-point range in the final frame, with Reggie Jackson‘s triple putting them up one with 30.8 seconds left. Robert Covington‘s 3 with 7.4 seconds left restored Minnesota’s lead, but Drummond was able to put back a miss from Jackson to force OT.
In the extra period, even Drummond got in on the 3-point barrage, knocking down a corner triple to give Detroit a one-point lead on a crucial possession with the shot clock winding down. The Pistons were able to hang on from there at the foul line to complete the comeback.
Blake Griffin led the way with 34 points on 5-of-10 shooting from deep, while Reggie Bullock recorded a career-high 33 points on 7-of-12 shooting from downtown. Drummond notched a 16-16 double-double, while Derrick Rose‘s 33 points led Minnesota.
