8. Kemba Walker goes for 60, but Jimmy Butler’s game-winner lifts 76ers

It took exactly three games for Jimmy Butler to make it abundantly clear why the Philadelphia 76ers went out and got him. Oddly enough, it came on a night when an opposing player had one of the highest-scoring games of the season.

In an epic mid-November battle with the Charlotte Hornets, Butler’s 15 points in the box score hardly compared to the 33 Joel Embiid put up, let alone Kemba Walker’s career-high of 60. The Hornets All-Star had the game of his life, going 21-for-34 from the floor, 6-for-14 from deep and 12-for-12 from the foul line, adding seven rebounds, four dimes and four steals as well.

However, when the game got tight late in overtime, it was Butler who took over on both ends of the floor. He blocked Kemba twice in those extra five minutes, including the game-saving block that preserved a 119-119 tie with 15.7 seconds left.

On the very next play, he knocked down the game-winning 3-pointer with 0.3 seconds left.

It was unfortunate Kemba’s historic performance didn’t result in a win, but with Jimmy Buckets taking over on both ends, at least the fans of both teams were treated to one hell of a game.
