24. D’Angelo Russell drops career-high, Rondae Hollis-Jefferson supplies game-winner in historic comeback

As it turns out, the Sacramento Kings weren’t also the comeback kings; that title belonged to the Brooklyn Nets, who overcame yet another double-digit deficit on March 19 behind a career-high 44 points from D’Angelo Russell.

Despite trailing by as many as 28 in the second half, including 25 in the fourth quarter, Russell caught fire late, putting up 27 in the final frame as the Nets outscored Sacramento 45-18 in the period. However, it was Rondae Hollis-Jefferson who supplied the final nail in the Kings coffin, hitting an improbable layup with 0.8 seconds left to give Brooklyn a two-point lead.

That game-winner — while he was practically looking away from the basket — snapped a four-game losing streak for the Nets, who became the fourth team in the shot clock era to overcome a 25-point fourth quarter deficit. Before this game, teams trailing by that many points entering the fourth quarter were a combined 3-3,028.
