31. Pistons win OT thriller in Blake Griffin-James Harden-Clint Capela duel

In late November, the Detroit Pistons and Houston Rockets gave NBA fans one of the most entertaining OT games of the season, highlighted by Blake Griffin and James Harden trading buckets late in regulation and the two teams battling back and forth throughout the full 53 minutes.

As the two sides swapped leads late in the fourth quarter, Griffin responded to a Harden step-back jumper with a clutch 3-pointer with 2.6 seconds left. It felt like the final nail in the coffin as he put Detroit up by two points, but Eric Gordon answered with a nifty drive to the rim on the ensuing inbounds play, tying the game at 98 with 0.1 seconds left.

In overtime, the affair turned into a one-upping contest. When Clint Capela threw down a two-handed dunk over Griffin, the Flyin’ Lion responded with a nasty one-handed hammer to match his intensity.

The Pistons ultimately pulled away in the extra frame, with Griffin’s 28 points and a 23-20 double-double from Andre Drummond leading the way. James Harden put up 33 points and eight assists for Houston, while Clint Capela notched 29 points and 21 rebounds.
