34. Jimmy Butler and Paul George trade clutch buckets in thrilling Thunder-Sixers clash

In a game that featured yet another tangle between Joel Embiid and Russell Westbrook, it was Jimmy Butler and Paul George that wound up trading figurative blows down the stretch. Despite Embiid’s 31 points and a clutch go-ahead bucket from Butler, the Oklahoma City Thunder were able to emerge with the 117-115 win on the road.

With the score knotted at 113, the Sixers trapped Dennis Schroder in the backcourt and he floated a pass across to the other side of the court. Butler ripped that lazy pass off, converting a big-time layup to put his team up two with 6.9 seconds left.

Unfortunately, PG-13 knocked down a clutch triple on the ensuing inbounds play from half-court, and Butler was called for the foul to give him the opportunity for a 4-point play. George knocked down the free throw, finishing his night with a 31-6-5 stat line to secure OKC’s win after Butler’s last-second 3 was off the mark.
