36. Warriors at Jazz in Week 1, ending on Jonas Jerebko tip-in

Late October matchups rarely mean anything, but there’s no question the Golden State Warriors’ road showdown with the Utah Jazz on Oct. 19 was one of the most anticipated games of Week 1. It certainly lived up to the hype, coming down to the wire in a contest between the defending champs and a team that closed its 2017-18 season on a 29-6 tear.

After a shocking 81-point first half, the Jazz weren’t able to hold on for the victory at home. Despite leading by as many as 16, including a 10-point advantage with just under nine minutes left, Utah ultimately fell on a Jonas Jerebko tip-in just before the buzzer.

Jerebko’s game-winner in his return to Utah obviously stung, but Kevin Durant (38 points, nine rebounds, seven assists) and Stephen Curry (31 points, eight assists) did the heavy-lifting, making this a heavyweight clash that was even more enjoyable thanks to Joe Ingles‘ 27 points and a balanced attack from Utah.

In a high-scoring affair that came down to the wire, the Dubs and Jazz submitted an early candidate for Game of the Year that reminded everyone how silly it is to say the Warriors ruined the NBA.
