38. Memphis Grizzlies win in overtime despite 57 from James Harden

Unbeknownst to most of the outside world, Jonas Valanciunas did work after he was traded to the Memphis Grizzlies. Luckily, “most of the outside world” got to see it with James Harden in town, even if the Beard’s 57 points, eight assists and seven rebounds stole the show.

With his seventh 50-point game and fifth 55-point game of the season, Harden racked up the third-most 50-point games in a season since 1977-78. He scored all of the Houston Rockets’ 10 points in overtime, and led a 17-2 rally in the fourth quarter by scoring 15 of those points.

However, even with the Beard going ballistic, the Grizz were able to hold on for the victory in OT when Clint Capela fouled Valanciunas with 0.1 seconds left. JV hit the game-winning free throw, missing the second on purpose to finish with a career-best 33 points and 15 rebounds. Mike Conley, meanwhile, added 35 points on a night that was very encouraging for Memphis’ future.
