39. Midseason MVP candidate showdown between Paul George and Giannis Antetokounmpo

When Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks came to town in late January, all eyes turned to a showdown between two of the league’s top three MVP candidates (at the time). In a game that served as the buildup to his scorching-hot February, Paul George rose to the occasion.

Finishing with 36 points, 13 rebounds and three steals on 8-of-12 shooting from 3-point range, PG-13 did a little bit of everything to lead the Oklahoma City Thunder to a 118-112 win.

The Greek Freak put up 27 points, 18 rebounds and four assists of his own, but George scored seven points over the final 1:15 to help keep OKC’s lead out of reach, even throwing down a monster dunk over his MVP competition for good measure.
