Phoenix Suns: Top 20 plays of the 2018-19 NBA season
The Phoenix Suns struggled through another miserable season, but that didn’t stop the highlights from stacking up. Here are the top 20 plays from 2018-19.
For the third time in the last four seasons, the Phoenix Suns endured their second-worst season in franchise history. While they may never approach the misery of that 16-win inaugural campaign as an NBA franchise, the Suns’ 19-win season in 2018-19 was somehow a step down from their 23 wins in 2015-16 and their 21 wins last year.
There are too many numbers available to continue painting this depressing picture, including point differential, offensive and defensive rating, games missed, and so on and so forth.
But that’s the beautiful thing about the NBA, and basketball in general: Outside of game-winning shots, highlight plays are often devoid of deeper context.
Think about the iconic dunks of Michael Jordan or Dominique Wilkins, the crossovers of Allen Iverson and Tim Hardaway, the rejections of Dikembe Mutombo and Hakeem Olajuwon — can anyone honestly say they remember what quarter they happened, how they swung the result of a game or whether that player’s team even won?
This loophole in NBA enjoyment provides an opening for us to examine the Phoenix Suns’ most recent campaign anew, with a more optimistic outlook as we digest the happier times worth saving in our memory banks.
We’ve already taken a look at the top 10 overall moments of 2018-19, so now it’s time to dive into the 20 best poster dunks, alley-oops, nifty moves, blocks, game-winners and other individual highlight plays of the season.
