Miami Heat: Top 10 moments of the 2018-19 NBA season

4. Derrick Jones Jr.’s freakish dunk vs. the Raptors
It may have taken just a second, but this was without doubt one of the lasting memories of the 2018-19 season.
While the game was out of hand with the Heat trailing the Toronto Raptors 117-95, Derrick Jones Jr.’s fast-break, alley-oop slam dunk was one for the ages. Following a Raptors turnover, Rodney McGruder snagged the ball and passed it over to center Bam Adebayo.
With his ability to handle the ball, Adebayo led a break when he was accompanied by Jones on the right side of the floor. As he approached the paint, Adebayo lobbed the ball up to Jones, who simply soared far beyond the rim for a simply mid blowing jam.
While Jones has demonstrated his freakish athletic feats on numerous occasions since arriving in Miami, this was something else, leaving commentators and fans alike simply in awe.
As Heat announcer Eric Reid stated following the jam:
"“A cloud-piercing.”"
As for Jones himself, he simply stated:
"“My teammates, they have this little thing that if I have a fast break and I do a simple dunk then I’m like in trouble…. So I told Bam just throw the ball up as high as you can.”"
In a season full of ups and downs, this was certainly one of the more memorable for the Heat.
