9. Holiday win over the Los Angeles Lakers

Many NBA fans will mark the Los Angeles Lakers’ Christmas Day game against the Golden State Warriors as the turning point for their season. LeBron James went down with a groin injury that would doom them for the rest of the season as the King missed over a month of action.

But few may remember the game before the Christmas Day game, where the Grizzlies pulled out a strong fourth quarter to beat the Lakers on their home floor.

It was a huge game for rookie Jaren Jackson Jr., as he tallied 27 points to go along with nine rebounds, four of which came on the offensive glass. The team also shot remarkably well from downtown, hitting 14-of-26 3-pointers for a 53.8 percent clip.

It was classic Grizzlies basketball, playing at a snail’s pace and forcing the Lakers into tough shots and matchups. They held the Lakers to just 33.3 percent shooting from outside and forced 16 turnovers, only coughing the ball up nine times themselves.
