6. Lonzo Ball and LeBron James make history in Charlotte

For as many questions as there were regarding how the newest batch of teammates would fare alongside the King, maybe the most concerning of them all was how he’d manage to get the most out of Lonzo Ball.

During his run to eight straight Finals, James’ had an off-ball spot-up shooter in Mario Chalmers and a go-to isolation scoring option in Kyrie Irving manning that position. Lonzo was neither of those things, a terrible outside shooter whose pass-first mentality opened the door for criticism regarding his lack of aggression.

So when the two of them compiled triple-doubles of their own in a 128-100 victory over the Charlotte Hornets, it looked as though they were slowly figuring out how to play off each other.

LeBron finished with 24 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists, while Ball had 16 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists. They became the first pair of teammates to accomplish such a feat since Jason Kidd and Vince Carter back in 2007, and the first Lakers duo since Magic Johnson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar way back in 1982.

It was a historic outing, one that had Laker fans excited about the future between these two gifted floor generals and provided a potential blueprint for how they would play off each other moving forward.
