Detroit Pistons: 3 reasons to be excited about this team
The Detroit Pistons could be heading to the 2019 NBA Playoffs, but there are more reasons than that to be excited about their future prospects.
The Detroit Pistons are heading for what they hope is their first playoff birth in three seasons, and they have a new head coach in tow to help them move towards the future after a number of disappointing seasons. While the Pistons may have underwhelmed compared to the expectations they had coming into the season, they showed signs of life that can give you optimism for what they will be able to do in the future.
After being strapped for cash for a number of years, they will be able to get some of that dead money off of the books over the next couple of seasons. For instance, Reggie Jackson, Langston Galloway and Jon Leuer all come off the books after next season. If the Pistons continue to do well in the draft, especially now that they have their first round pick back after the Blake Griffin trade, that will make their future even brighter.
Even if the Pistons don’t make the playoffs this year, there are still a number of reasons to be optimistic about this team moving forward. They have one of the NBA’s top 20 players, and they’re going to continue to add players to their bench to help build around him to get back to the team that didn’t regularly miss the playoffs.
