2. Perfect teacher for Lonzo Ball

Yes, his time in Milwaukee ended poorly, but Jason Kidd was the coach who put the ball in Giannis’ hands and ushered in the Point Giannis era. If the Los Angeles Lakers were to hire Kidd, he would have another student to help unlock his full potential in Lonzo Ball.

Coming into the NBA, Lonzo’s direct comparison was none other than Jason Kidd. Both are tall point guards from California with coveted basketball IQs, an innate ability to control the pace and push the tempo, and are phenomenal passers who don’t need to score to impact the game and stuff the stat sheet. It’s only right that the person to take Lonzo’s game to the next level is Jason Kidd.

Early into Lonzo’s rookie season, Kidd stated the comparisons between himself and Lonzo were “a stretch” and that he needed to understand what it takes to win at the highest level. Even before that, Kidd stated the obvious that Lonzo needed to change his shot, and that he can only go one way with his form.

Jason Kidd seems to have ideas on how to improve Lonzo’s game, and having a Hall-of-Famer with similar limitations heading into the NBA would be perfect for Zo. If paired with the Lakers in the offseason, Lonzo should be ecstatic with learning from Kidd and understand that Kidd would push him because he knows that there’s more to winning in the NBA than supreme feel and a high basketball IQ.
