1. Pat Connaughton

If Mirotic is the most talented replacement for Brogdon and DiVincenzo has the most upside, Pat Connaughton may be the answer for which player can step into Brogdon’s role and excel. The former Notre Dame player has turned a small contract into a nightly role on the best team in the league.

His best characteristic is his shot, as Connaughton has hit 52.3 percent of his 3-pointers over his last six games. It is portable, so the wing can shoot off-the-catch in a variety of settings. The difficulty will be consistency, as he can get hot and cold for extended periods. Depending on the matchup Connaughton can also get after rebounds, averaging 5.6 boards over those same six games.

Defensively, Connaughton struggles more than Brogdon, but that doesn’t mean he’s a flat-out liability. He can survive in a number of matchups, with a strong motor that helps keep him engaged in the play. Playing Connaughton with the other starters puts more pressure on Eric Bledsoe on defense, but another option outside of Tony Snell would do the same.

Milwaukee seems in line to hand extra minutes to Connaughton in the absence of Brogdon, as he has become a favorite bench piece of head coach Mike Budenholzer. If he can settle into his shot and not be a sieve defensively, then the Bucks can weather the storm of Brogdon’s absence.
