2. Donte DiVincenzo

The Milwaukee Bucks are blessed with a number of players capable of playing the shooting guard position, from Sterling Brown and Tony Snell to a large point guard like George Hill. Yet if they are pointing to a player who can bring dynamic shot creation as a backup point on bench units, then the answer is likely Donte DiVincenzo.

Milwaukee’s first round pick from the 2018 NBA Draft has missed a few games due to injury, but he had opened up a spot in the rotation prior to that. He is not putting up elite numbers, but his energy and shot creation could bring out the best of the Bucks’ bench units.

The rookie out of Villanova loves to push the ball in transition, and that kind of energetic action is infectious. He races around for rebounds, attacks the paint and isn’t afraid to pull up at any time. His percentages have been up-and-down to speak charitably, but he does not fear the shot. In looking for someone to step up in the postseason, no one thinks that DiVincenzo will fear the moment.

There is a major step down from Brogdon to DiVincenzo; very few teams have a player as reliable as Brogdon as their fifth starter. A player such as George Hill may be a more comfortable choice, or returning Tony Snell to the starting lineup. What DiVincenzo represents is a chance not to replace Brogdon exactly, but to chase a spark that could make the bench units special.
