The Milwaukee Bucks have to face their first major injury of the season. Who on the roster can step up and help to replace Malcolm Brogdon?

The Milwaukee Bucks and their fans received the sort of news no NBA team wants to receive, especially this close to the playoffs. A key member of their rotation was going to miss an extended period of time. For the Bucks, it was starting 2-guard Malcolm Brogdon.

Brogdon is having the best season of his career, a hyper-efficient shooter helping to unlock the Bucks’ new offensive attack. The third-year player out of the University of Virginia is shooting 42.6 percent on 3-pointers this season, highest on the team (minimum 20 attempts). Only Khris Middleton and Brook “Splash Mountain” Lopez have put in more total 3-pointers than his 104.

Brogdon is also a key part of the Bucks’ top-ranked defense, often matching up with the opposing team’s best backcourt player. While not a lockdown defender, his size and versatility allow the Bucks to match up in the most advantageous ways.

Head coach Mike Budenholzer will now need to replace his 28.6 minutes-per-game. This will likely come not from one single player but from increasing the responsibility of a few different players. The pressure is on, as Brogdon will reportedly be out well into the start of the playoffs.

The team first announced his injury in a statement on Saturday, revealing that an MRI and subsequent examination had revealed a minor plantar fascia tear in his right foot. ESPN‘s Adrian Wojnarowski then reported the guard would be out 6-8 weeks.

Which players on the Bucks’ roster can step up and help to replace Malcolm Brogdon? While help could come from a number of places, here are three players who could specifically be looked at to increase their roles in the coming weeks.
