Multi-Dimensional

Something that came up in just about every scouting report out there on Huerter was that his shooting was going to carry his offense and determine his status as an NBA player. That has quickly been debunked as he has shown flashes of unexpected athleticism and a solid game off the dribble.

The rookie has challenged some fearsome defenders at the rim already and has won more than he lost.

He hasn’t necessarily been a creator for others, but he can certainly create for himself along with an effective pick-and-roll game with John Collins where Huerter can come off the screen and take a quick and deadly pull-up jumper.

Huerter is not, nor will he be, a specialist. Korver, Smith and even Thompson to a certain extent are not accurate projections of what he will become because they are often used as shooting specialists (with the exception of Thompson).

As the Hawks player development staff works with him, there will be new facets of the game added to his arsenal and he will continue to surprise people with an unteachable feel for the game.
