3 questions for the Indiana Pacers leading up to the 2019 NBA Playoffs
3. Can Myles Turner start to produce for the team offensively?
Myles Turner has anchored the team in the defensive paint, but has been struggling to maintain a groove on the scoring front. Since returning from a two-game break with a bruised left hip two weeks ago, he’s averaged 11.1 points per game and even put up big numbers in Thursday’s 117-98 loss against Milwaukee, finishing with 22 points and 17 rebounds.
However, periodic injuries have sidelined him for short stints throughout the season, which might be making it more difficult for him to establish a rhythm offensively. Turner has added the 3-point shot to his arsenal and is shooting an efficient 40.1 percent for the season, the best number in his career, but he hasn’t been getting the volume of shots inside the paint that could get his team over the hump in some games.
While Bogdanovic and Collison have shouldered the scoring load for the Indiana, it hasn’t quite paid off against the elite teams in the East. This leaves more room for Turner and others to get involved in the offense and take the pressure off until the backcourt is fully healthy again.
