1. Draft picks

The best thing that the Cleveland Cavaliers have done this season is rack up a large amount of NBA Draft picks. Building through the draft is the best way to rebuild a dead franchise and the Cavs have made sure to give themselves as many picks as possible.

The 2019 NBA Draft isn’t projected to be as deep as other classes, but the players at the top of the boards have some serious talent. Zion Williamson has the potential to be a generational talent, while R.J. Barrett and Ja Morant have all received high praise from scouts.

Cleveland will finish with some of the highest odds to win the No. 1 pick in this year’s draft. This means that the Cavs could end up being able to draft either Williamson, Barrett or Morant.

On top of this, Cleveland also has another first round pick in this year’s upcoming draft. This pick will likely land towards the bottom half of the first round, but has the potential to secure a talented player.

One player that the Cavaliers should be eyeing is Daniel Gafford from Arkansas. Gafford is a 6’11” forward who is averaging 16.6 points, 8.4 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per game for the Razorbacks. He has great speed and athleticism, making him an interesting prospect for the Cavaliers.

Cleveland is going to get two chances to win big in the 2019 NBA Draft. This alone should be enough to create optimism for the franchise.
