The Boston Celtics have a tough road ahead of them before reaching the NBA Finals. Here are five keys to winning the Eastern Conference.

Before the 2018-19 NBA season began, the Boston Celtics were the heavy favorites to win the Eastern Conference. After a few rough patches, their future doesn’t seem so certain anymore.

The Celtics had high expectations this season for obvious reasons. They were fresh off the 2017 NBA Playoffs, during which young stars such as Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown and Terry Rozier nearly carried the team all the way to the Finals.

With the return of both Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward, as well as the veteran presence of Al Horford, it seemed easy to crown the Celtics as Eastern Conference champions before the season began.

Unfortunately, things are never that easy in the NBA. Boston has faltered every step of the way and is currently sitting in fifth place in the East. It’s time to break down the five keys the Celtics need in order to get back on track and win the conference.
