Greatest injury comeback in San Antonio Spurs history: Tony Parker

Scratched retina

San Antonio Spurs point guard Tony Parker was well on his way to a decorated career when an off-the-court incident at a nightclub nearly left him blind and with a scratched retina. Parker sustained the injury in an incident between Chris Brown and Drake and in the end, needed surgery treatment to repair the damage.

Back on the court, Parker managed to appear in 66 games during the 2012-13 season, showing that his eye damage didn’t seem to slow him down too much. He produced 20.3 points, 7.6 assists and 3.0 rebounds per game on 52.2 percent shooting from the floor.

During the 2013-14 season, Parker and company entered with vengeance on the mind after losing in the 2012 NBA Finals. They returned to the 2013 NBA Finals as Parker went on to win his third ring with the Spurs.

It’s been quite the journey for Parker, who is also a star on the French National team. He’s been a key piece in the Spurs’ runs to NBA titles. He’ll go down as one of the toughest to guard and also one of the toughest to keep on the sidelines. He appeared in 1,198 games for the Spurs before joining the Charlotte Hornets in the 2018 offseason.
