Greatest injury comeback in OKC Thunder history: Kevin Durant

Jones fracture

All-Star Kevin Durant is enjoying quite the decorated career as a member of the Golden State Warriors, but before that, he suffered a foot injury that sidelined him for quite a while. While playing for the Oklahoma City Thunder during the 2014-15 season, Durant suffered a Jones fracture in his right foot, causing him to miss 55 games.

Durant had formed quite the duo with Russell Westbrook in his time with the Thunder. Without Durant, Westbrook was left to fend for himself in the brutal Western Conference.

While most players would need an extended amount of time to recover from the injury, he wasn’t like everybody else. Durant would return in time for the start of the 2015-16 season and ended up putting up All-Star numbers.

He averaged 28.2 points per game to go along with 8.2 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game. In his return season, he posted three games with 40 points or more and 26 games with 30 points or more as he finished third in the league in points per game.

The following season he would go on to join the Golden State Warriors in his quest to win an NBA title. Since joining them, he’s won two NBA titles and two Finals MVP awards as he builds his legacy as one of the best scorers in the game.

Like some of the greats before him, he suffered a roadblock on the injury front but managed to bounce back gracefully as evidenced by his body of work.
