Greatest injury comeback in Golden State Warriors history: Shaun Livingston

Torn ACL, torn PCL, torn meniscus, sprained MCL, dislocated patella

Shaun Livingston’s story should be an inspiration for basketball players everywhere. Coming out of high school, he was highly recruited by a number of college programs and was going to attend Duke before deciding to make the jump to the NBA.

He missed an entire NBA season (2007-08) after essentially destroying his knee in his third season in the league with the Los Angeles Clippers on a freak play.

His journey to get back to the floor took him to seven different teams across the league before he found his bearings again with the Golden State Warriors. He joined the Warriors prior to the 2014-15 season as a free agent and instantly became one of their most productive reserves.

Livingston put up 5.9 points, 3.3 assists and 2.3 assists per game through 78 appearances with Golden State. He would go on to win his first NBA title with the team, the first in his career, in the NBA Finals, showing his perseverance despite his devastating injury.

He’s also been a member of two other NBA title teams (2017, 2018) alongside superstars Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson. He’s a testament to the hard work that it takes to get back on the floor from a brutal injury.

Through five seasons with the Warriors, he’s producing 5.5 points, 2.5 assists and 2.1 rebounds per game through 350 appearances. He’s still playing strong despite his past, showing that his brighter days continue to be ahead of him.
