3 Reasons the Cleveland Cavaliers are playing better
By Tony Pesta
1. The return of Kevin Love
The number one reason behind this team’s elevated play is the return of Kevin Love. Love is the only player on the Cavaliers roster with veteran and All-Star experience. His mere presence on the court is enough to settle this young team down and instill some confidence in them.
When Love is out on the court, the Cavaliers feel secure. Love might not be the borderline superstar he was back in Minnesota, but he is still talented enough to put up big numbers against any NBA team.
Love is averaging 16.5 points and 8.3 rebounds a game since his return. In his most recent game, Love posted a season-high 32 points and 12 rebounds to capture a victory over the Memphis Grizzlies. He also shot 6-of-9 from the 3-point line that game.
The Memphis game was a perfect example of what Love brings to the table. He is a guy that can score in bunches and control the glass. These are two things that Cleveland was struggling with while Love was injured, but now, they don’t have to worry about it.
Kevin’s return to the team has been vital to their success. With him in the lineup, the Cavaliers look like an actually competitive basketball team. It will be fun to watch Love and the Cavs build off of this momentum heading into the summer.
