1. Continue to climb in the West standings ahead of postseason

The top goal, and this one might be a pretty obvious one, for the Jazz has to be them aiming to climb even more in the Western Conference standings ahead of the posteason.

Entering Thursday and heading into the post-break schedule, Utah sits as tied for the No. 6 seed in the West with the San Antonio Spurs.

The Jazz are basically right in the middle of a six-team race to the finish, as they are just two games back of making the jump to as high as the No. 4 seed, while also sitting just two games ahead of dropping out of the playoff picture as the No. 9 seed.

Since Utah went on its second half stretch where it jumped back into the postseason picture, the Jazz have been floating around the six and seven seeds in the conference, which would as of now place them with the first-round opponent of the Denver Nuggets or the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Ideally, as is the goal for every team within the conference still within striking distance of the playoffs, Utah would like to get up to a top-four seed in the postseason so it can host a playoff series once the regular season concludes.
