2. Continued consistency out of Donovan Mitchell

One of the biggest objectives and goals for the Jazz throughout the course of the 2018-19 NBA season is getting its second-year star Donovan Mitchell to play at a consistent level, kind of like what we — somewhat surprisingly — saw during his rookie campaign.

Early on in the regular season, Mitchell seemed to be experiencing somewhat of a sophomore slump where he had a long stretch where he would at one moment display his age of a young NBA player before flipping the switch the next game while showing us all why he was highly sought after coming out of college.

Thus far in the second half of the regular season, however, we have seen more consistency out of Mitchell, and in return the Jazz have jumped back into the playoff picture and have been clicking as a result.

During the first 41 games of the regular season, Mitchell averaged 20.4 points, 3.6 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.6 steals in 32.7 minutes over 37 games.

He shot 40.9 percent from the field, 30.9 percent from three and recorded a Game Score of 11.8 with a plus/minus of plus-1.8.

After we flipped to the second half of the year, Mitchell has averaged 27.3 points, 5.4 assists, 4.7 rebounds and 1.3 steals in 34.7 minutes per game during 16 contests. He has shot 43.5 percent from the field, 35.2 percent from three and has recorded a Game Score of 18.2 with a plus/minus of plus-7.8.

Overall, the consistency of Mitchell has been better and his play has taken another step in the second half of the season, for whatever reason. That is going to need to continue to occur for the Jazz heading towards the postseason.
