Top 5 duos in the NBA during 2018-19 season
By Nick Crain
1. Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant (Golden State Warriors)
Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant are truly a once in a generation duo. Although Steph has missed 11 games, Durant has played in all 57 of the Warriors’ games. When both of these players are on the floor, Golden State has lost only nine games all season.
The Warriors boast the best offensive rating in the NBA at 117.5. On top of that, when Curry and Durant are both on the floor, their offensive rating is even higher, at 121.6. This is due to several factors.
First, both players are top 10 in offensive win shares, as well as top 12 in offensive box plus/minus. On a more general level, they are both top five in points per game, combining for 56.2 points per game as a duo. To put that into perspective, that is within five points of outscoring four NBA teams’ average points per game from their entire starting lineup.
KD and Steph also are top 20 in the NBA when it comes to PER, VORP, box plus/minus, and win shares. No matter what way you look at it, this is the clear-cut No. 1 NBA duo.
