Top 5 duos in the NBA during 2018-19 season
By Nick Crain
3. Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid (Philadelphia 76ers)
Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid were the first steps in the right direction of “The Process” in Philadelphia. Although they’ve added two more stars to their starting lineup this season, Embiid and Simmons are still the cornerstones of this team.
Joel Embiid, although potentially missing some time after the All-Star break, has stayed healthy this season, missing only four games. Of Philadelphia’s 21 losses this season, four came when either Simmons or Embiid were inactive. This goes to show how impactful this duo is for Philly. When it comes to VORP, Ben Simmons is 16th in the league, which shows how important he is individually to the team.
Simmons and Embiid both are in the top 20 in the league in rebounding, at 20th and third, respectively. On top of both of them being great rebounders, Simmons is third in the league in assists at 7.9 per game, while Embiid is sixth in the league in scoring, averaging 27.3 points per game.
JoJo is starting to prove he is a top center in this league, while Simmons is proving he can make a huge impact on games by facilitating and not having to score. This young duo is finally starting to click and stay healthy, which is scary for competitors in the Eastern Conference.
