Coming out of the NBA All-Star break, the Detroit Pistons have two months to turn Year 1 of the franchise’s new era into a success.

The NBA’s 2019 All-Star Weekend did not go by without the Detroit Pistons being represented.

Blake Griffin was responsible for Detroit’s spot on the big stage, making his sixth career All-Star appearance. He posted 10 points, six rebounds and three assists for Team Giannis during Sunday’s main event showcase.

Now that the All-Star break is in the rearview mirror, the Pistons can resume the business that is the 2018-19 regular season and make a push toward the postseason.

The Pistons have a sub-.500 record of 26-30, but they are currently sitting in eighth place in the Eastern Conference standings. If they can at least stay afloat, they’ll make the playoffs for just the third time since 2009.

With 26 games remaining on the regular season schedule, Detroit should have its sights set on a few things that could not only help them in their postseason quest but also set them up for long-term success.

In their first year under new leadership — head coach Dwane Casey and front office adviser Ed Stefanski — the Pistons have some big decisions to make in the near future. Here are five goals for the team coming out of the All-Star break.
