Sacramento Kings: 3 goals following 2019 NBA All-Star break
By Adi Brescic
1. Make the playoffs
Of course, no article involving the words “Sacramento Kings” and “goals” would be complete without mentioning the playoffs.
On the season, the Kings are 30-27 and ninth in the Western Conference. Standing in the way of their quest for playoff basketball are the 8-seeded Los Angeles Clippers (32-27) and the Los Angeles Lakers (28-29, 10th place).
Playing in the Kings’ favor is continuity and health. The Lakers have rarely been healthy this season and have struggled to find consistent chemistry because of it. As for the Clippers, they just traded away their best player (Tobias Harris) and one of their better defenders (Avery Bradley).
The Lakers also have one of the toughest remaining schedules according to their strength of schedule (.520).
There is also the possibility of the San Antonio Spurs dropping out, as they’re 33-26 and seventh in the standings, but the odds of that happening seem slim to none. Remember, this is a team that has been to the playoffs every year since the 1996-97 season, so it’s probably better not to get your hopes up.
With how things have gone this season already, the Sacramento Kings making playoffs wouldn’t be the most shocking takeaway, but it would be one of the most discussed topics.
