2. Finish out the year .500

The Kings are currently 30-27 and with 29 games remaining. Whether or not they make the playoffs, finishing the 2018-19 season with a .500 record would be the next best thing for a team that wasn’t even expected to be this good.

If we went back in time to the offseason and asked 100 different basketball fans where they would have the Kings finishing in the West, the majority of them would tell you they’d be towards the bottom of the standings, tanking away another season because, well, it’s the Kings thing to do.

Even Las Vegas had their over/under for wins at 26, per Odds Shark. So if you were one of the very few brave souls that took the over, congratulations. And if you’re the person in charge of making these over/under win totals, congratulations, you played yourself!

With only 25 games left on the season, the Kings would have to win 11 to go .500. Luckily, they’re schedule isn’t that bad; they’re 21st in remaining schedule strength.

However, 14 of their games are on the road, with eight of those teams currently in the playoffs in their respective conferences. It feels like it’s going to be a wire-to-wire season finish for the Kings. Should they achieve this goal, it would be the first time since the 2005-06 season that the franchise hit the 40-win mark.
