1. Excellent execution

Oftentimes, efficiency is a joint result of execution and team chemistry. That’s precisely what head coach Michael Malone has instilled in his team this year.

The Nuggets have garnered success this year through precise passing, smart decision-making and a hunger to win rebounding battles. The formula has proven successful for Denver. They’re one of the league’s five slowest teams, yet stand among the top five in both offensive rebounding percentage and assist-to-turnover ratio (the only NBA team to do so).

Offensively, it’s been all about ball movement for Malone’s squad. Denver ranks fourth in the NBA in offensive efficiency, while ranking seventh in passes made per game with the sixth-fewest dribbles per touch (per NBA.com). For a Denver team that ranks the third-slowest in the NBA in pace, the offensive approach has been to find higher quality shots opposed to a higher quantity of shots.
