The Portland Trail Blazers’ all-time starting 5
By Erris Brown
With numerous stars and legends that have made a legacy for themselves with the Portland Trail Blazers, who would be in their all-time starting 5?
Here we are, just one day prior to All-Star Weekend, the NBA’s star-studded showcase of the best talent across the league in Charlotte. It’s a time of honor that every player dreams of, highlighted by Sunday night’s main event, the All Star Game. It’s a game the Portland Trail Blazers will be sending their very own, Damian Lillard, to compete in.
This marks Lillard’s fourth All-Star appearance amidst a season where he is averaging 26.3 points, 6.4 assists and 4.5 rebounds per game, all while shooting from a 45 percent clip from the field and leading the Blazers to the 4-seed in the Western Conference. In just seven seasons, Dame has put up stellar numbers and accomplished unreal achievements, from NBA Rookie of the Year award to an All-NBA First Team selection in 2017-18.
It is numbers and accolades like this that build legacies with franchises that, long after their careers are finished, leave players in the minds of the fans as icons of an organization. The Trail Blazers are of course no strangers to great talent, however. The club has seen its fair share of stars, All-Stars and superstars since its inaugural season in 1970.
When taking into consideration this time of year in which we celebrate great talent in the game of basketball teaming up in ways we likely would not see otherwise, an intriguing question is which five players would make up an all-time Portland Trail Blazers starting five?
