The Detroit Pistons are eighth in the Eastern Conference, and they have a good chance to make the playoffs. However, these things need to happen to make it true.

The Detroit Pistons are currently sitting in eighth place in the Eastern Conference thanks to a string of strong games in recent weeks. Whether some of that had to do with players worrying they were going to be traded or everything finally clicking, they are playing their best basketball of the season. While they didn’t go fully in at the trade deadline to land someone like Mike Conley, they didn’t sell off enough to tank.

They want to make the playoffs, and that is clearly their goal for the remainder of the season. While they won’t be getting one of the top five seeds, they could easily push to the 6-seed due to the tight cluster that exists between the sixth and 11th-place teams in the East. Earlier in the season, the Pistons struggled with consistency, and, while they haven’t played like world-beaters during their recent four-game win streak, maybe this was the boost of confidence they needed.

With the playoffs in their sights, they have a few very specific things they need to do to make that happen. With their combination of size, they can cause problems for teams in the playoffs, but they have to get there to make that happen. Detroit hasn’t made the playoffs since the 2015-16 season, but it can end that drought this year.
