Sacramento Kings: Ranking the trade deadline deals
Trade No. 2
In their second-best trade, the Sacramento Kings worked with the Houston Rockets and Cleveland Cavaliers to swap picks and swingmen.
To keep it short and sweet, the Cavs acquired young talent in Marquese Chriss and future picks, while the Rockets got wing depth to aid James Harden in his quest to lead Houston to the Finals.
The Sacramento Kings brought in a much-needed backup guard. Burks was essentially dead money on the Utah Jazz to start the season. When he was dealt to the Cavaliers for Kyle Korver, Burks seized the opportunity by having 10 games where he scored over 15 points and 18 games where he grabbed six or more rebounds.
By trading for Burks, the Kings now have a second guard next to Bogdan Bogdanovic, who they can rely on to score once De’Aaron Fox and Buddy Hield come out of the game.
This acquisition really improves the Kings bench, which was among their biggest flaws heading into the trade deadline. While his salary is a bit lopsided, he can still contribute on a playoff team.
