Oklahoma City Thunder: 5 buyout players to consider signing
By Nick Crain
4. Nick Young
Nick Young, although not a recent buyout candidate, could help the Thunder immediately. After starting the year as a free agent, Young signed with the Denver Nuggets for a short four-game stint while they were dealing with some wing depth issues due to injury.
Although he only lasted 4 games, he still shot 37.5 percent from three over that short stretch. Young has playoff experience and won a title last season with the Golden State Warriors in a role where he came off of the bench as a three-point shooting threat.
Young is a bigger wing at 6’7” and can play both shooting guard or small forward. He averages 11.4 points per game over his career as well as boasts a career 37.6 percent 3-point percentage. Over the course of his whole career, he has been known as a solid scorer, especially from deep.
Similar to Terrance Ferguson last season when he was a rookie, Hamidou Diallo, a current Thunder rookie, has completely lost his minutes and is not expected to get minutes in the playoffs. Young could prove useful down the stretch and into the playoffs as a backup shooting guard or small forward, especially if Andre Roberson does not come back from injury. He also fits nicely in the role that Alex Abrines was supposed to have this season.
