1. Kevin Durant, SF, Golden State Warriors (Player Option)

Kevin Durant would be the Lakers’ ultimate dream free agency target, wouldn’t he? Putting two of the top five players in the world together in the same lineup would just make too much sense for a Los Angeles team desperate to reinstate its “contender” status.

As with most of the other players on this list, though, it’s unclear what Durant’s plans for the future are. The current belief is he’s on his way out with the Warriors, but there’s no guarantee he’ll even test the market. Especially if he wins another ring this season, Durant may be convinced to stay put for the time being.

Then again, anything is possible when LeBron is involved. The two have grown to become good friends on and off the court, appearing in public numerous times since the offseason. Folks have even gone as far as claiming that James’ recent drafting of Durant ahead of the 2019 NBA All-Star could be a further attempt to recruit him to Los Angeles.

Either way you look at it, you have to at least consider the realistic possibility of Durant jumping ship for a new challenge this offseason. Helping James return the Lakers to their championship ways would certainly be a worthy test for one of the game’s all-time greatest scorers.

Regardless of the true odds, signing Durant would be a dream come true for the Lakers. Who knows if they actually get the opportunity to pitch him, but you better believe Magic will do everything in his power to earn KD’s signature during the 2019 NBA free agency.
