10 players to watch for on buyout market after 2019 NBA Trade Deadline
7. Nik Stauskas
The career of Nik Stauskas hasn’t panned out quite the way some had hoped for the No. 8 overall pick of the 2014 NBA Draft out of Michigan, but as mentioned before, there will always be a place in the NBA for guys who can shoot the long ball.
Solidly built at 6’6” and 205 pounds, Stauskas has the size that keeps him from getting overwhelmed physically on the perimeter, a flaw we’ve seen hinder many a great outsider shooter. That height also allows him to shoot over guys who may give up a couple inches, an important advantage to have when given such little room to fire more often than not.
As with most if not all the players on this list, teams aren’t looking to bring these guys in to play big-time minutes with games on the line. It’s about taking on in veterans who can come off the bench and fill a role, whatever it may be.
At 34.9 percent from his career from 3-point land, he can certainly stand to improve in the one skill he’s probably most well known for, but Stauskas is still not a guy you want to leave open for fear of letting him get on a hot streak, and it’s this leverage he creates that teams can use to their advantage.
