Cleveland Cavaliers: Evaluating the 3-team trade with Rockets and Kings
By Tony Pesta
2. Brandon Knight
The most notable player that the Cleveland Cavaliers acquired in this trade is Brandon Knight. A few seasons ago, Knight was praised as one of the league’s brightest young stars. In the 2011-12 season, he was named to the All-Rookie First Team.
In a three-season stretch from 2013-14 to 2015-16, Knight averaged 18.1 points, 5.1 assists and 1.2 steals per game. Despite being traded twice during this stretch, Knight seemed like he had a bright future and was sure to be a productive player for years to come.
Unfortunately, his career took a wrong turn when he tore his ACL and missed the entire 2017-18 season. He was then traded to the Houston Rockets, where he appeared in only 12 games and played minuscule minutes.
Now, Knight has found himself in Cleveland, where he will likely have a larger role for the next year or so. At 27 years of age, there is still time for Brandon to make a successful return to the league and contribute to a team that is attempting to rebuild itself.
