NBA Trade Grades: Rockets, Kings, Cavaliers agree to 3-team deal
The Houston Rockets, Sacramento Kings and Cleveland Cavaliers have agreed to a three-team deal revolving around Iman Shumpert and Alec Burks. Here are NBA Trade Grades for all three sides.
Trade talks raged on throughout the day Wednesday, and within minutes of the Chicago Bulls and Washington Wizards agreeing to a deal revolving around Otto Porter Jr., the first three-team deal of the week finally landed.
As first reported by ESPN‘s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Houston Rockets, Cleveland Cavaliers and Sacramento Kings have agreed to a deal revolving around Iman Shumpert and Alec Burks, with Shump going to Houston and Burks joining the Kings.
In the process, the Cavs will receive Brandon Knight, Marquese Chriss and a lottery-protected 2019 first-rounder from the Rockets, sending Nik Stauskas and Wade Baldwin IV back to Clutch City in return.
It can be hard to keep track of a trade with so many auxiliary pieces changing sides, but all three teams are getting a piece of what they wanted before the deadline:
For the Rockets, they’re adding wing depth and 3-point shooting while dumping deadweight salary at the cost of a protected first-rounder. For the Cavs, they’re scooping up yet another future draft pick for taking on bad contracts and sending out a useful bench scorer. For the Kings, they’re snagging a useful wing at the mere cost of a sell-high candidate.
The question is, how did everyone fare in this complicated exchange? Here are NBA Trade Grades for all three teams.
