Paul George
LeBron goes back to OKC well with this pick. He grabs Paul George, who is having the best season of his career on both ends of the floor, which has lead to him being the leading candidate for the Defensive Player of the Year award. George is shooting 45.4 percent from the floor and 41.0 percent from beyond the 3-point line. LeBron is putting an emphasis on defense and length, and George is the linchpin of the whole thing.
At 6’9″ with extremely long arms, George has the ability to get in passing lanes and take the ball the other way. The All-Star Game is all about excitement, and there is no telling what kind of big plays they could pull off by having George on the receiving end of LeBron and Harden’s passes. George has been known to break out some highlight-reel dunks whenever the mood strikes, and I’m sure All-Star weekend will be no different.
LeBron is assembling a large and long team that can score from anywhere, but they don’t require the ball in their hand to make things happen. With George and his 2.3 steals per game leading the team on the defensive end, Team Giannis is going to have to get creative when it comes to scoring that comes from the wings.
