Lonzo Ball interested in joining Phoenix Suns
When it comes to trade talks, some NBA players have power and some don’t. In fact, about 95 percent of players fall into the latter category. Unfortunately for Lonzo Ball, he’s absolutely among the powerless.
Right now, there are a lot of rumors flying around as it relates to the Lakers’ trade talks for Davis. Most involve speculation on what Los Angeles could offer to pry the Brow away from New Orleans. Of the potential trade packages mentioned, most of them include Ball.
However, the young point guard doesn’t appear interested in taking his talents to the Bayou. Instead, he’d much rather join the Phoenix Suns, who actually need a point guard and seem to be on the rise despite their miserable 2018-19 performance. That is, according to the Los Angeles Times‘ Tania Ganguli, who cited basketball reasons for the mutual interest:
After learning of the Lakers’ offers to the Pelicans, Lonzo Ball’s camp maintains that New Orleans isn’t the desired destination. Phoenix makes the most basketball sense if Ball were to be traded and according to two sources there is mutual interest.

That’s great for Ball, and it makes sense considering their backcourt needs and slew of young talent. However, the ball isn’t really in his court when it comes to deciding his fate. That decision will fall on Magic, who will be more than willing to send Ball wherever he sees fit.
The preferred approach would be for Ball to simply stay put, but the odds of that happening are slimming down every day.
