9. Brandon Jennings (2013-16)

One could argue that Brandon Jennings’ career peaked in his rookie season. That was when he finished third in Rookie of the Year voting behind Tyreke Evans and Stephen Curry, scored a career-high 55 points in one game, and dropped 34 in his playoff debut for the Milwaukee Bucks.

After four good years in Milwaukee, Jennings was traded to the Pistons in 2013, and that’s where his promising career took a turn for the worse that ultimately led to a quiet ending.

Jennings spent two and a half seasons in Detroit, averaging 14.1 points and 6.6 assists per game. He had some standout moments, like one game in 2015 when he put up 24 points and 21 assists, becoming the first NBA player to post a points-assists 20-and-20 since Steve Nash in 2009.

Just a few days after that game, however, Jennings ruptured his Achilles tendon. His career never really recovered.

Jennings returned to the Pistons the next season, but the former starter was used as a backup before getting traded to the Orlando Magic. After that, he bounced around the NBA and the G League, most recently playing pro ball in Russia in late 2018.
