2. Furkan Korkmaz
Like Chandler, Furkan Korkmaz is on an expiring deal. The team declined his player option earlier this year, signifying that he might not be included in the franchise’s future plans.
It has definitely been an up-and-down season for Korkmaz, who is averaging 6.0 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game in 41 appearances. He does still hold a ton of potential, but unfortunately, he just hasn’t had the best timing with the fluctuating Sixers roster since being selected with the 26th overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft.
After requesting a trade at the end of October, the team decided to boost his playing time. However, with the team’s addition of Butler a few weeks later, Korkmaz never quite hit his stride.
The 21-year-old Turk has been a shooting aid in games when he’s been called upon, but his lack of defensive competency forces head coach Brett Brown to dock his minutes.
While splitting time with rookie standout Landry Shamet at the small forward spot this year, it’s obvious that the team needs to consider making a move that works out for both parties involved.
